Since her 2018 emergence, Nashville alt-pop artist Angela Parchetta has been steadily rising in acclaim and reach, with her latest single ‘Like You Want Me To’ showcasing the continued growth and development that the artist and her sound have had.

The track is centers around a protagonist who has been hurt in love one time too many, and has built a protective wall around themselves to prevent them from taking further damage. There is both an empowering gleam and anthemic defiance to the narrative, with the person essentially shutting out what she deems “firework types” who who hurt you when you get too close. The artist’s colourful alt-pop sound is on full display here, but with perhaps an underlying darkness that keeps things feeling interesting and exciting. Another stellar release from an artist who continues to impress on her rise.

“The idea for Like You Want Me To came to me on 4th of July 2021 when I heard fireworks outside of my apartment.” Angela says of the track. “I started thinking about how fireworks are a great representation of toxic relationships/people. They’re bright and exciting, beautiful and celebrated…but only from far away. If you get too close to fireworks, they’re no longer any of that…they’re just dangerous.”
