Following the rousing success of their debut release ‘If You Wanted To You Would’, Annie and the Jays have followed it up with their sophomore single ‘Too Shallow’, a thoughtful and emotionally vulnerable new release that continues to highlight the confessional authenticity of their sound and style.

The track has an almost conversational and autobiographical feel to it, delving through events and life experiences alongside an acoustic guitar as they pour over the wreckage of a relationship following its dissolution and leave some candid thoughts about the situation. The track has an upbeat charm to it despite its bittersweet feel, and an empowering glow that radiates from the cathartic power of the vocals and lyrics. With two releases to their name, Annie and the Jays continue to establish themselves as a force in modern indie pop, wearing their collective heart on their sleeve on two immersive and enrapturing releases that feel inescapably captivating.

“This song was born out of one hour of sitting at a piano with some bitter feelings to vent, and has been reclaimed into empowering post-breakup release.” The band says of their latest single. “There is a little piece of each of us in the band in this song, and it’s one of our favourites to perform live”.
