The artist continues to experiment with glowing results.
Boasting a gorgeously poised sound that draws inspiration from folk and indie, Brynja has more lately incorporated genres like R&B and pop into her sound to craft something that feels more contemporary and modern but maintaining its lush, familiar instincts.
A track that encapsulates this deftly poised style perfectly is the artist’s incredible latest single ‘My Oh My’, a soul-baring, endlessly captivating track that feels like the best of both of these sonic worlds that the artist is traversing. As always, the dreamy vocals and vulnerable, candidly honest lyrics are what drives the track, and they provide some real moments of gravity and bittersweet sadness among the track’s lush instrumental, but all in all Brynja’s sound has this effortless, transcendent quality to it that feels endlessly moving and hopeful.
“I wrote the song in a deep depression.” Brynja says of the track. “My relationship ended, I was unemployed, homeless and covid came… I wanted to get my life back on track and make big life decisions but it’s hard when everything is a mess. Then it’s hard to know where to start. I was so frustrated with myself, I just felt like my heart was speaking a language I didn’t understand.”
