Chaz Cardigan revels in the anthemic pop turmoil of ‘Not OK!’

Oh, and he just signed to JJ Abrahams’ new record label – touché!😱

Recently signing to JJ Abrahams’ (yes, the big sci-fi director JJ Abrahams) new record label Loud Robot, Chaz Cardigan emerges with a bang in his anthemic new single ‘Not OK!’. At audible odds to what the title professes, ‘Not OK!’ is a potent indie pop concoction and a tour-de-fource introduction to what Chaz is all about as an artist.

Irresistibly infectious and sitting on the crossover point of pop punk, ‘Not OK!’ is a toe-tapping, hip-wriggling outing that makes inner turmoil feel almost aspirational. Despite its driving punch, the track showcases the more vulnerable side of Chaz with its anecdotal and confessional lyrics. As he states, it’s a celebration of human imperfection.

“I started going to therapy last September, and it made me reflect on where certain tendencies of mine came from,” shares Chaz of the single. “‘Not OK!’ is about realizing that some of these things are just a part of me – and that it’s all right, because everybody’s got something broken about them.”

‘Not OK!’ is available now via Capitol Records / Loud Robot.
