A new track and the promise of an EP!
Today we have been treated to new music from one-man indie band, Day Wave.
The track comes with the news that he’ll be releasing his new EP Crushout on April 24th. ‘Potions’ comes complete with mesmerising arrangements that we have come to know and cherish Day Wave for.
This is 100% Day Wave at his best and some. There’s a newfound confidence in his vocals, they’re much more dynamic and make it clear that he’s put a lot of time and effort into his progression as a musician.
The track (and EP) was written and recorded following an extended break from the Day Wave world. The break has certainly helped though as it’s clear he’s reconnected with his sonic roots.
In terms of the EP, it will contain four songs that are built on the structural simplicity that belies their considerable emotional depth. As lo-fi and dreamy as ever, the tracks will be just as intimate as they always have been. Completely produced, mixed and mastered himself, the result is a completely raw in true Day Wave style.
Phillips explains, “I was really just trying to make sense of things for myself with this EP. It’s easy to feel isolated, like your thoughts don’t matter or that you’ll never be good enough, but writing these songs was my way of trying to rid myself of those toxic ideas and open myself up to a better way of living. It was my way of trying to figure out who I really was.”
