Australian outfit KOTA pack a raw rock energy on new release ‘Downpour’. The new single is the first to be shared from the band’s forthcoming 2020 EP, to be released later in the year.
Opening with urgent drumbeats that create a tense atmosphere, ‘Downpour’ shocks the system with full-throttle guitar fuzz and a rollocking momentum that ebbs and flows; just when you think you have it sussed, it will abate with a sense of relief. Wailing punk vocals leave a gnarly mark as does its mean riffage. It’s a fun turn from the Victoria-based trio.
“‘Downpour’ is about the lack of control humans have over their own lives, often being at the mercy of Mother Nature’s power, the threat of disease and the actions of other people,” share KOTA of their new single. “Written over a year ago, lines in the song such as ‘society diseased, society afraid’ are strangely relevant to the current state of the world.”
