The track follows the release their comeback single ‘Relax’.
Following a two year hiatus, UK alt hip-hop band Monster Florence returned earlier this year with the new single ‘Relax’, reaffirming their status as a cutting edge collective who’s innovative and dynamic sound that has earned them plaudits and fans from all across the musical spectrum.
The outfit have now followed it up with the new single ‘Borstal’, a groove-filled, shimmering track that continues to expand their sonic world while showcasing their unique flows and engaging charisma. Themes like isolation, perpetual cycles and bad habits are explored in the track, and it showcases a sense of depth that hasn’t been seen since their stunning 2020 track ‘Handstand’. Monster Florence continue to confound and beguile us with their creativity and guile with each new release, and their eclectic mix of styles and ideas continue to provide UK hip-hop with one of its most diverse and exciting acts.
peaking about the new release, the group’s Dream Mclean said, “The main idea behind Borstal came about from the feeling of being stuck in time, kind of like a Groundhog Day situation where you’re imprisoned in a moment and you feel like you’re not moving. You’re in a perpetual cycle of being stuck in bad habits, and we wanted to put those sentiments into a song”.
