Rebecca Coleman and Devin O’Brien not only form indie pop duo Pageants but are also partners, and this closeness and chemistry comes across masterfully within their spacious and dreamy sound.

Latest release ‘Worse’ is pulled from the duos new album Sun and Settled Days and serves as almost a calming piece of reassurance for all of those feeling overrun. The soothing nature of the sound can often create a feeling of euphoria and something approaching transcendence. There is an affable warmness and innate sense of catchy, endearing fun that really hones in on this idea of longing, and the self-created video by the duo provides a unique look into the personal and creative relationship that the duo share and adds another element to this wildly captivating showcase. This is a wonderful piece of thoughtful indie pop that is sure to do as much for its listeners as it has the people who created it.

Worse’ is a self-soothing lullaby for my overwhelmed psyche and others in a similar position,” explains Coleman. “I wrote this at a time when I was really missing Devin while he was on tour with Cherry Glazerr. All we could really do to actually see each other was FaceTime once in a while, and when we did get the chance to FaceTime, we’d always kiss the screen at the end of our call. So sad lol.

We were looking to depict a sense of tension between two emotional realities, linked together by a painting,” explains O’Brien. “One side is content and carefree, while the other is lonely and forlorn, and both are held together by a physical manifestation of collaboration and love.”
