The track is from the thoughtful alt-country outfit’s upcoming debut EP At The Cube
With the impending release of their upcoming new EP At The Cube, set to come out in May, UK alt-country outfit Play Misty have released a second single from the upcoming collection of tracks in the form of ‘All the Pain, All the Joy’, an exploration of the multi-faceted and unpredictable nature of life, delving into the human experience and the range of emotions, the trauma and heartbreak and joy that we experience along the way.
The band’s bluesy and engrossing sound shines throughout the track, with an easy-going and compelling feel to it that does a really interesting job of juxtaposing some of the darker aspects of the lyrics and themes. The driving rhythms and immersive nature of the vocals do a great job of holding onto your attention throughout the track as it progresses, and the track continues to promise an enchanting listening experience come the release of the EP. Speaking of the EP, the whole thing was recorded at Bristol’s The Cube Microplex as part of the band’s ongoing support for local venues.
Band Member Ryan McMurtry says: “We wanted to show support for Bristol’s local venues by making The Cube the focal point of our release. Instead of recording in the studio or at home, we hired The Cube and set up on stage like a gig, and recorded the EP there. It’s such a beautiful venue and we hope getting this EP out there helps to highlight the importance of small grassroots venues to local music scenes across the country.”
