Psychedelic rock Cold Beaches return with the spine-tingling track and music video ‘Somebody’
Taken off the forthcoming new album ‘Drifter’, Cold Beaches’ ‘Somebody’ is a rollercoaster ride filled with grit, experimental flair, and a whole lot of attitude. As the psychedelic rock n roll brainchild of Sophia Nadia, the upcoming album is set to become Cold Beaches’ most energetic work to date.
‘Somebody’ kick starts their releases of the year in a powerful, yet enchanting way.
Sophia stated, “Somebody is definitely the music video I am most proud of. I worked extremely hard on it, and it almost exactly reflects my feelings regarding the nonconsensual objectification and reduction I deal with as a woman (of color) in the music industry.
Sometimes, you don’t feel safe. Sometimes you want to barricade that metaphorical door and watch it, so no one comes in. This song is me thrashing on my guitar with a ton of fuzz, basically projecting that through my work.“
With the visuals like something straight out of a Quentin Tarantino film, the action packed music video is fast-paced and filled with attitude. Revealing a more ruthless side of herself, the video holds onto the suspense of the single with great ease.
While the track may be brief, it’s a statement and refuses to be pushed aside. Hard-hitting and fuelled with a grunge-like arrangement, the number is packed with aggressive guitar riffs and stadium-like drums.
Cold Beaches’ Somebody embodies Nadia’s feelings all in to one, and it’s a true, honest, experience.
