LA-based duo Conditioner reside in a breathtaking spacious soundscape in instant classic ‘Terms of Surrender’.

Accompanied by an animated visual by Unlimited Time Only, the psychedelic offering is somewhere between the realms of indie and dream-pop.

Armed with a subtle jazz influence, the iconic chord progression is unpredictable and refusing to be left in the shadows.

Speaking about the new offering, Conditioner share, “This song is about surrendering to love.

It’s a conversation between someone whose identity is tied to their independence and the person they love trying to make them see that what they’re looking for is staring them in the face.

However, there’s also a more sinister framing for this song – it’s also intended as a story of a young person falling into a cult, and subsuming their personhood and individual goals in service of this organization.

I think the song is about 2 things at once – a celebration of acceptance of love, and a warning about fully losing touch with yourself. Really falling in love and building a life with someone requires that loss of independence – and that sacrifice is beautiful.

But it can also be terrifying. This song tries to capture both sides of that in equal measure.
As far as the actual composition of the song, the verse structure is based on a super traditional bossa nova groove.

This track started on nylon string guitar and we eventually built out the parts to feel more ‘us’ – lots of sparkly clean guitars, some thick bass, and tons of fun synth accents. We are particularly proud of the arpeggiated breakdown that starts around 2:20 – lots of fun layering and a cool chord pattern.”

A remarkable experience that will leave you drooling over its hypnotising arrangement, ‘Terms of Surrender’ currently owns the crown for best release of August.
