Australian singer-songwriter Hayden Calnin returns with spacious folk number ‘We Got Gods to Blame’
Already receiving praise from the likes of CLASH, Atwood Magazine, Earmilk, Stereogum and beyond, Australian singer-songwriter Hayden Calnin is the real deal.
Blending note-perfect folk melodies with complex indie soundscapes, Hayden’s latest adventure ‘We Got Gods to Blame‘ could easily be his best yet.
Dynamically building throughout, the powerful harmonies that are layered throughout the release are breathtaking. Coming across as a mantra in places, the latest single feels motivational and able to change a negative mindset.
Sharing his thoughts on the release, Hayden states, “Sometimes when you’re scared of something your first action is to run or hide from it. You can get real low sometimes, so low that you shut yourself out. However, that can shift if you have someone to lift you up and out of it, which often means giving a little more of yourself to someone; sharing those things you keep hidden away.
And when you finally do express those things with someone, it can be so damn liberating. This song is all about being truthful and comfortable with who you are, owning it, and asking for help along the way when you need it. And hope. A whole bunch of hope.”
“We Got Gods to Blame” secures another standout moment in Hayden’s career, and showcases that his songwriting will always continue to grow.
