Premium Leisure releases exquisite new single and video ‘Easy FM’
British multi-talented guitarist, producer and singer-songwriter Chris Barker, aka the mastermind behind solo project Premium Leisure is certainly someone to keep an eye out for.
Back with his first single of the year, “Easy FM” features a star-studded lineup with backing vocals from Willie J Healey, instrumental backing from Ash Cooke (Be Good), Casper Miles & Jack Kendrew (PETSEMATARY), bass goodness from Harry Deacon (Palace) and hypnotic drums from Mike Monaghan (Saint Etienne, Gaz Coombes).
An easy-listening release that radiates summer vibes throughout, ‘Easy FM’ is a psych-pop number with elevating vocals from start to finish.
Chatting about the video, Chris states, “I was thrilled when Henry and Tom from Young Knives were up for directing the Easy FM video, I was mesmerised by their puppet show video for ‘Barbarians’. The idea to get me on skates was initially Tom’s, with a vision to create some sort of hat tilt to Cliff Richard’s famous ‘Wired for Sound’ video, clearly we went off course.
A good friend recommended Mimi (featured in the video) a skater for the Oxford roller derby team, who lent me some skates and got me started. The whole thing was shot around the estates and a small skatepark where we live during lockdown, it was great fun keeping it local and seeing what happened on the day.”
Shot from the suburbs of Oxford, the visuals from ‘Easy FM’ are accessible and simply human. Showcasing a strong DIY vibe, the simplicity of the video also states that the overall release is best described as ‘genius‘.
Tune into Easy FM… it’s easily one of the strongest releases of 2021 so far.
