Sage Charmaine and Elko team up for sensational R&B-infused number ‘Thru Hell’
A collaboration sent straight from heaven, Sage Charmaine and Elko team up for incredible new single “Thru Hell”.
R&B infused with elements of trap sensibilities, ‘Thru Hell’ is best described as sleazy and armed with independence.
Speaking about the release, Sage shares, “‘THRU HELL’is a special song for me because I like to think of it as being an unconventional love story – borderline ✨toxic✨, if you will~the song is about completely losing yourself in somebody, & going a lil insane trying to become some ideal version of yourself just because you think that’s what your partner is expecting of you.
As the story goes along, it seems the couple would be best off just “turning the other cheek,” but instead, they continue to drag each other through a literal self-induced hell. 2020 put me through the ringer, as it did many others, so i definitely pulled from a lot of personal experience when writing this one.
I knew i needed Elko because he absolutely SLAYSS in the emo department both lyrically & melodically so I’m so fucking happy he was able to hop on the song. He does, however, live a bit far, & with all the restrictions and craziness that’s been going on, we weren’t sure how this video was gonna get done, but ultimately you know we ain’t stopping all 2021, we filmed that bitch over FACETIME & it’s fucking SICK.
Honestly turned out even cooler because of the diy aspect so trust me when i say, this is one you don’t wanna miss. I hope you love it as much as we do.”
Adding to Sage’s quote, Elko stated, “When I first heard the demo & the lyrics explaining how the toxicity of this relationship, I was like oh I’ve been through before. I wanted to highlight the aspect of how much it drains you to be in relationships like that so my fav line I wrote was “Can’t feel you or no one else just how you got me overwhelmed.
I love the record and I really connect with the topic at hand. Sage is also such a sweet person I couldn’t be more grateful to work with authentic folks in the music industry.”
Armed with a DIY video, the vivid visuals are instantly eye-catching and refuse to be left for dead.
