You will love The Flowers’ latest new single… ‘You Don’t Say!’
Sydney based indie-pop outfit The Flowers are becoming a clear asset to Australia’s ever-growing music scene. “You Don’t Say!” is the latest anthem to come from the quartet and serenades listeners with it’s self-love message.
Front woman Agnes O’Dwyer, aka Aggy, had this to say on the release, “You Don’t Say! is about struggling with body image. It’s essentially me yelling cause I’m kinda mad about how much it has ruined my life.”
Produced by Peter Holz (Peking Duk, Vance Joy), ‘You Don’t Say!’ fuses pop-punk sensibilities with a radiant indie presence.
Aggy added, “Some of us are our own worst critics – this song is about striking back against self doubt and deciding the love yourself a little more. I don’t want to make self love sound easy, or make it seem like i’ve got it all figured out – the song talks more about taking small steps.”
A track that feels forever youthful, The Flowers’ signature sound is coated in confidence and showcases a band ready for the big time.
“The verses paint a picture of the bad days; where I’m constantly comparing myself to others, where my negative body image and other people’s comments get the best of me. The choruses are about the good days, where self love seems worth it,” says Iggy.
“Never thought I’d ever publicly speak about this because I’m still super embarrassed about it, but writing this song brought a lot of healing for me and I hope it can do the same for others out there struggling.”
‘You Don’t Say’ blends somewhat vulnerability with a powerful emotive. It highlights ‘you’ve got this’, and no matter what you’re going through, you’ll come out the other side stronger than before. The Flowers are back, and destined for greatness.
