The artist tackles grief and being there for loved ones on the new release.
Steeped in poignant imagery, an emotionally wrenching narrative, and ROE‘s now signature, authenticity-drenched style, the artist’s latest single ‘A Temporary Thing’ may be the Derry singer-songwriter’s most heartbreaking to date.
Grieving is a tricky process and one that can be difficult to really externalise and put into words, but ROE does a really beautiful job of exploring some of these feelings and the ways that it can affect you and some of your loved ones. Whether it is her voice, the wonderfully measured instrumentation, or just the atmospheric gravity of the sound, ‘A Temporary Thing’ is a track that you will carry with you beyond its three minute duration.
“I don’t think you ever really know what to say to console someone who’s grieving. I don’t think there are any magic words out there that can take that kind of pain away.” ROE says of the emotional track.
“I wrote A Temporary Thing for my mum when my granny passed on, when I realised that the most helpful way to comfort someone is to just let them feel how they need to and be there for when they need you.”
