The track is from their upcoming debut LP What Still Gets Me.
Having made their emphatic return earlier this year with ‘Fuck It’, their first release since 2016 EP Misery + Disaster, Bristol emo outfit Shit Present have upped the ante on their huge, emotionally charged new single ‘Voice In Your Head’.
The tracks are part of the outfit’s long, long-awaited debut album What Still Gets Me, and does a great job highlighting the band at their all-encompassing, explosive best. Themes like mental health and therapy are explored on a track that packs a palpable sense of intensity and rawness throughout. These no holds barred, unfiltered emotional journeys are exactly what made Shit Present such a lauded commodity over the last decade, and Iona Cairns vocals feel as cathartic and impactful as ever on the new releases.
“This is a textbook ‘I’ve been to therapy’ song.’” says Shit Present vocalist and guitarist Iona. “It really did come as breaking news to me in 2016 that I am not my thoughts and I might learn to have some agency over them. The melody was inspired by a song from the hit movie ‘Josie and the Pussycats’ and I wrote it in my head at work and recorded it on my phone in the toilet.”
