Channelling the best bits of Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte and blink 182, Sophia Bel drops the catchy new single ‘You’re Not Real You’re Just A Ghost’!

Hailing from Montreal, Canada, the Michigan-born artist and producer has always had an affinity for the left-field. Growing up loving trip hop and drum’n’bass whilst her peers were devoted to the Y2K pop of Britney and Christina and later becoming a bit of an emo kid, she found herself a target for bullies.

Leaning into the music of her teen years, ‘You’re Not Real You’re Just A Ghost’ fully embraces all of the earmarks of pop punk. Catching a bouncy momentum with its spritely percussion and riffs, the track is a perfect marriage of mainstream smash and cool enough for the alt crowd.

“I wanted the accumulation of repressed angst that was evoked when rediscovering pop-punk bands of my teenage years,” shares Bel of how the track came to be. “‘You’re Not Real You’re Just A Ghost’ is a satirical take on the frustrations caused by a general lack of communication in relationships”.

‘You’re Not Real You’re Just A Ghost’ is available now via Bonsound. Sophia Bel’s EP Princess of the Dead pt. 2 is to be released in November.
