Making a welcome return, Tape Tension‘s new single ‘Moving Pictures’ is an atmospheric slice of synth pop. The track is plucked from the forthcoming second album by the Minneapolis artist.

The moniker of songwriter and producer Jack Ross, Tape Tensions arrangements of analogue synths carry an emotive, filmic quality. Understated pulses solidify the momentum before being joined by an interjection of skittish beats. Accompanied by Ross’ own low-key vocal delivery, ‘Moving Pictures’ carries a soothing quality to its introspection.

“This song is undeniably a breakup song,” states Ross of the single. “But one that’s about the process of making peace with the reality of breaking up with someone (not being broken up with) and moving on with your life, hoping that they do the same and eventually find their own peace.”

‘Moving Pictures’ is available now.
