The Mayblues continue to establish their signature sound on their fourth release.

‘Melatonic Nightmare’ sees The Mayblues continue to showcase their unique and diverse sound, providing a memorable bridge between blues and grunge.

The track, written about a vicious cycle of melatonin induced nightmares of past love and alcohol-fueled hookups, showcases the outfit at their most raw, reaching its apex at a cathartic and explosive chorus. There is a darkness and bleakness to the track that is offset by its memorable riffs and bouts of restrained chaos, as the outfit continue to establish their signature sound with one of their most potent releases to date.

To put it in words of singer and guitarist Chris Im, “this song is actually just about being a gloomy insomniac while swiping through Tinder. I thought it would be interesting to write about a trivial predicament in a serious tone and bury it in energetic music”. He goes on to state, “the inspiration came from my old note with the phrase melatonic nightmares, gin and tonic love affairs. The frustration of a binary perspective was well reflected and may have helped seamlessly combine blues and grunge, which are my primary influences”.
