The track is the latest in a long line of stellar releases from the outfit.

The Thing With Feathers are on something of a stellar run of form as of late, with their punchy indie rock sound earning them increasing level of acclaim and reverence, with the band capable of delving into genres like indie pop, alternative rock and even dance depending on the situation without ever deviating too far from the hallmarks of their core sound.

The latest release from the outfit is ‘Golden’, a track that showcases the band at their most anthemic and riff-laden, packed full of fun, immersive moments and an overwhelming sense of drive and dynamism. The lyrics explore themes like relationships and insecurity but never in a way that feels like it weighs down the fun track. ‘Golden’ is just the latest showcase of a band that are really coming into their stride and making waves in the process.

When speaking of the new single, David says “The idea for ‘Golden’ sort of smacked me in the face one night. I had been experiencing some writer’s block and we really had yet to write much of the EP at all. I was lent a classical guitar with nylon strings that had been tuned a step down (because apparently hearing things in a different key sometimes helps shake off some cobwebs). And sure as shit I sat down and wrote the main riff”

“Normally, when I write a line or something like that, that gets me excited, I have a bad habit of patting myself on the back and appreciating my ‘brilliance’,” he jokes. “When in fact, I really should bang out the rest of the song. That night I was like “come on, don’t be scared to finish it.” And so I did”
