Leftfield art-rock oddities are something that Brighton band Youth Sector have grown synonymous with as of late, and their latest single ‘Won’t Stop The Wheel’ continues to showcase the lasting appeal of the off-kilter charm and personality of their sound.

The track serves as a sobering dose of pessimism from the outfit, gloriously and gleefully shouting harsh realities throughout as if they’re the winning lottery numbers. Thanks to their choppy angular sound and this infectiously fun energy and personality that permeates their style, Youth Sector have somehow managed to make the harrowing and downbeat nature of their lyrics feel inescapably exciting and vibrant, spraying out anthemic choruses in euphoric glee as we inevitably roll to our doom. Fun stuff.

“If you’re a realist or a pessimist, this is your anthem – optimists, this song isn’t for you so scram!” Youth Sector say of the track. “The chorus melody is possibly the most sing-along thing we’ve written to date but the lyrics essentially say that you can try all you want to better yourself and claim some agency and dignity in life but ultimately we’re all just flailing around out here trying to mask the fact we lost control of the wheel long ago. This is of course not how anyone feels all of the time, but isn’t it nice to have a feel-good tune to sing for when you do?”
