We had a chat with Bandit, one of the leading emerging lights of the UK indie rock scene
This week, our partnership with CloseUp has bought us to back around to northern noisemakers and CLOUT favourites Bandit, who’s raucous and incendiary sound seems to feel more vital and cutting edge with every release.
2021 has seen them follow stellar cuts like ‘Balloons Don’t Make It a Party’ and ‘Mean Streak’ with the somehow even more energetic and visceral ‘Peppermints Don’t Hide Anything’. This is an outfit that doesn’t seem content sitting still for a second, always pushing to feel more vital, more memorable, more emphatic, and have subsequently never sounded better. Bandit possess a sound that is begging for live performances to start again, and when they do, they look to be a different beast altogether.
Bandit! It’s great to sit down and have a proper chat (Kinda). We’re such big fans of your music as you well know. Tell the world a bit about the musical world of Bandit?
Alright, thanks for having us. Our music consists of 4 mates creating blistering indie bops that tell tales of the beginning and end of relationships, friendships as well as the juicy bits in between.
The last 12 months has been such a crazy year for musicians, how much has it had an impact on your music?
All this time off has definitely enabled us to scrutinise the new songs that we have written, resulting in us coming back with some darker, anthemic, indie screamers. It’s also pushed us to think outside the box when it comes to marketing ourselves on social media and in the absence of gigs it’s made us think of ways to make fans feel included as much as possible.
