Butterjunk are a UK outfit who have been gradually building acclaim for their engaging brand of dreamy indie rock, possessing a sound that feels both breezy and laid back and with some nice melodic touches.

Their latest release ‘face again’ is the outfit’s first since the release of their well received 2021 EP Normalised, and continues to establish the nuance and innate charm of their sound. The track builds on its breezy riffs and steady tempo to create a sound that solidifies the unique and effortless vibe that the outfit are growing known for. A really cool and easy listen from an outfit who are only growing in composure and poise.

Singer and guitarist, Ben Ayres, discusses the song in more detail: “The song was originally written during one of the lockdowns. Whilst we were in the studio, the song evolved and became more upbeat, especially with the strong drum pattern. As a band, we then experimented with guitars and synths, overall being inspired by the dream and new wave sounds that have influenced Butterjunk and our signature sound. In terms of inspiration, ‘Face Again’ takes a large influence from the likes of The Cure, Beach Fossils and Day Wave.”
