Following the release of the CLOUT lauded EP Paradise (you can find our review here), Josephine has followed up with the gorgeous and poignant new single ‘Cat Mama’, a vivid piece of storytelling magic that sees the artist weighing up the whimsical dreams of owning lavender fields in the south of France with the impending doom of climate change and the uncertain future that it will bring.
For all of its bittersweet uncertainty though, musically, the track has this really effortlessly captivating indie-folk flavour to it, soft and restrained, with a nostalgic, retro-tinted edge that makes the sound feel timeless and endearing. The clarity that comes with the forthright imagery and the distinctive charisma of the artist makes for a track that truly has its own unique sense of appeal and charm. ‘Cat Mama’ is a triumph of poignant storytelling and lush, emotive artistry from Josephine, and continues to highlight the special talents of the artist.
