Ahead of the release of her highly-awaited sophomore EP It Takes Time, British-Chilean artist Naomi in Blue has provided us with a second glimpse of what is to come from the collection of tracks with her new single ‘Skin’, an atmospheric and affecting exploration of betrayal and the wreckage of a failed relationship that feels captivating throughout.
There is a palpable darkness that surrounds the track and creates a really distinctive aura, emanating both from everything from the Western-tinged guitars, the intense and constant ticking of the drum machine, and the intensity of the vocals that often feel like someone crying out in resonating fashion. The new single serves as a cathartic release for the artist, providing her with the conversation that she never got to have with the other person, and this makes for a powerful and engrossing listen that grips you from the moment that it starts.
