Having established themselves as a reliable country-pop duo capable of pulling engaging and thoughtful tunes out of thin air, Wild Fire sisters Kelli and Kayla Iutzwig have opted to throw caution to the wind on new single ‘Don’t Mess with Exes’ and debut a dynamic, more explosive sound that draws more influence from the world of alternative rock than country.
The track feels pulse-raising and exciting from the second that it starts, fast-paced and riff-heavy but maintaining the duos infectiously catchy charm, the track does a wonderful job of pushing the boundaries of their sound without sacrificing what makes them special. ‘Don’t Mess with Exes’ is rife with cutting, acerbic lyrics, an uncompromising sense of empowering confidence and guile, and most of all, a sound that feels revitalised and fiercely modern. A really stellar release that sees the duo shake things up and show off something a little different.
