Fast-rising Scots The Ninth Wave return with the new video for latest single ‘Flower Into Wounds’. The track is taken from their praised debut album Intimacy, which was released late last year.

With the track’s title taken from the cult J.G. Ballard novel Crash (in which the protagonist has a sexual awakening following being in a car accident), the band were inspired by the “emotional masochism” and physicality that the novel portrays. Accompanied by an eerie, bludgeoned video directed by BAFTA ‘Best Short Film’ Award winner Joern Utkilen, the track takes on a new light.

“The video is a meditation on suburban living expressed through a surreal interpretation of Cronenberg’s ‘Crash’, all inspired by the lyrics of ‘Flower Into Wounds’,” shares the duo. “Joern, Amelia’s uncle, directed the video and helped us present the essence of the song visually.”

‘Flower Into Wounds’ and The Ninth’s Waves’ album Intimacy are available now via Distiller.
